A mid-size Canadian emergency department over an 8-hour day, after a 60-minute warm-up that is left out of the statistics. About 60 walk-in patients an hour (exponential mean 8 minutes, lower acuity) and about 2.4 ambulance patients an hour (mean 25 minutes, acuity 1). The waiting room is priority by acuity, closer to CTAS than to first-come. One nurse triages in about 2 to 5 minutes. Acuity 2 or lower goes to a single trauma bay and seizes a doctor; everyone else seizes one of two exam rooms and a doctor. Three doctors are on duty the whole window. About 20% of treated patients are admitted. These rates are planning assumptions for a pilot, not a census of a named hospital.

How to read these results
Replications repeat the scenario with different random draws. A 95% confidence interval describes uncertainty in the estimated average, rather than the range for individual items. The charts from replication 0 illustrate one run; aggregate metrics combine the repeated runs and exclude warm-up.
